Geoff's Parkrun World Tour

Everybody's favourite octogenarian, Geoff Jackson, is currently flying the flag for Didcot Runners in New Zealand. He finished Parkrun in Cornwall Park in Aukland in a very respectable 33 minutes, with an impressive age grading of 67%. Geoff is an inspiration to all, showing that age is only a limiting factor in your own mind.

Thames Trot 50 - Our very own first lady!

Huge congratulations to Kirsty Reade, 1st Lady Vet in the Thames Trot 50 mile race! In a truly unbelievable time of 7hrs 15mins, Kirsty did herself and the club so proud. Very well done Kirsty, you continue to impress each and every one of us. Using your words 'You're totally awesome!' (I thought I should leave out the swearword)

The Thames Trot 50 mile race was re-routed due to the floods which meant that the run went through Abingdon just as the parkrun finished!  A group of us stood on the bridge and clapped, cheered & shouted encouragement as those brave runners went passed, most of who were smiling.

We hadn't been standing there long before we saw our very own coach Kirsty running towards us, making it look very easy and also smiling. With a quick wave she was soon out of sight again. Not far behind her was Phil Mason, also smiling! What's wrong with these ultra runners?? They're mad and happy! Steve Greenhalgh also ran the event but unfortunatley we missed him on the bridge. Steve, you were either in disguise or running too fast!

Miles and hours later, supported through the checkpoints by Dee Mason and Teresa Greenhalgh, the three runners finished in Henley.  All three of you did fantastically well and we wish you all a speedy recovery.  I'm sure you've all been for a recovery run already so no doubt we'll see you at the club tomorrow?? ;)

Country to Capital - Our Boys Done Good!

c2c

Congratulations to Paul Griffiths, Mat Browne, Steve Payne and John Scarborough who ran from Wendover to Little Venice on Saturday 12th January. The Country to Capital Ultra is a 45 mile, self-navigated race and in the cold, wet weather it must have been quite a challenge. Congratulations guys, you were awesome and you did Didcot Runners proud.

The Gut Buster

Congratulations to Paul Thomas for taking 4th place at the Gut Buster on January 30th. He also took first place in his vet category. A great run also from Julie Shand, proving she's still got it after a recent mini layoff due to injury.

Endurance Life Coastal Trail Series - Dorset

Congratulations on a magnificent result Kirsty Reade, a fantastic effort and very well deserved. As always we are in awe of what you do, and that wonderful way in which you do it.

Our other ultra runner was Paul Griffiths who also ran a fantastic race in some spectactular running accessories! Another brilliant effort.

Also to Steve Payne who absolutely smashed the Half in preparation for his Ultra aspirations in the new year, and was enough of a Gentleman not to tell the rest of us mere mortals quite how painfully far we had to go as he passed us in a brief flyby on his way back in.

The other club members taking part in the race were Tom Reddy, Bill Larnach, Sam Counsins, Sue Powell and Julie Shand. All did fantastically well on an extremely challenging and demanding course. The race organisers classed this race as 'extreme' and it definitely lived up to this category!

Thanks as always to Lewis and Tom for some stunning photographs all of which are on our Facebook page. There are a few videos from Tom too, which were taken during the race and are quite entertaining!

Well done all, you should be proud of your performances, it's a massive achievement!

The Saxon Heart Challenge is Complete!

Congratulations to Dave Knopp, who has completed his incredible challenge of 10 marathons in 10 months in 10 kingdoms. Dave certainly went out with a bang, achieving a PB in his final marathon. Didcot Runners all think you're amazing, Dave. Emmy took on 10 half marathons as part of the challenge and also managed a PB in her final race. Congratulations, both of you.
